This may have just been a hallucination to cover up for their incompetence though, since it sounds really stupid, and I haven't heard a thing about it since.

Probably a cover up in response to people asking why Nintendo's announced games aren't taking advantage of the Gamepad.

And when the games don't show any advantages of the Gamepad Iwata will say "Please Understand"
