I honestly think this is a bad argument. The 3DS and mobile phones may share some of the same market, but they aren't IN the same market. Try to think about what that means. It's like saying how many PC's and laptops are sold every year and compare it to home consoles and say "no one should make consoles."
Even though there are a lot of people gaming on mobile phones, almost none of them dedicate that much money into it. This is why the mobile phone market does not have the kind of quality you find in your handheld console.
