The "greatest source of evil," to use hyperbole, is not God, but the interpretation of gods via organized religions and the inability of humans to come to terms with systems of beliefs and traditions that contradict one another.
Since most religions are based upon the egocentric point of view that theirs is not only the correct point of view (at the risk of damaging the faith in said religion or invalidating it altogether) but the only point of view, it doesn't take a great deal of intelligence to see how religious conflict has and will continue to be one of the greatest sources of strife and misery afflicting the human race.
