Nintendo hasn't "failed their fans". They failed themselves by not managing Wii U development better.

I've said this before, but all of this drought nonsense could have been greatly averted by simply making Luigi's Mansion 2 and Paper Mario 4, both games that didn't NEED to be on 3DS, and could both have been better on Wii U, make those Wii U releases in the first half of 2013. Have one of them come out in Jan/Feb., the other in April or so. Problem basically semi-solved. There was no reason for those titles to be 3DS games, and they focused too much development effort on the 3DS, which has been getting a glut of games for the last year+.

Outside of the drought, Nintendo has not "failed their fans".

Good one. The 3DS wouldn't even had a holiday release in 2012 without Paper Mario: Sticker Star.

This post is a good one!
Nintendo can't just focus all it's resources on one platform at a time, as that'll just result in a 3DS drought, then a Wii U drought, then another 3DS one, and so ons. Divide their development resources evenly between the two consoles, they must! Plus for those games specifically that he mentioned, they were in development long before the Wii U released, so Nintendo had no way of knowing how things were gonna turn out for it. At the time it was the 3DS that was struggling.
