They take longer to make, and you have to have almost double the amount of staff to create assets and textures, etc in HD quality. Budgets from Wii to Wii U software have, at the very least, doubled. Hence the numerous software delays, as well as Nintendo constantly hiring on more and more staff all the time. Couple that with the fact that many 3DS titles cost nearly as much to make as Wii games, and we have the current situation Nintendo finds themselves in. I'm saying they don't look better from the videos I've seen. I don't care if the pixel count is eleven times more or something, it doesn't look like an improvement.
