Seems like a fair complaint, games like Last of Us rely very heavily on visual presentation for immersion into the game world. It would be a better experiance on more powerful hardware capable of delivering the game at a higher reslolution and framerate which would remove many visual flaws that can break visual immesion. Seeing things like bad aliasing and judder is annoying when you know that you have hardware capable of removing those flaws.

I would always prefer a game look it's best, it adds to the experiance. That doesn't make me a hypocrate because I also enjoy games with simple or even bad visuals.

Technically he is right current consoles do have lacking technical graphics, and the sacrifices many developers make to achive the visuals they do (poor framerate, image quality, limited scope or veriaty, pop-in etc) detract from the experiance. Not that I would personally let it stop me from playing a great game, but I fully see where he is coming from.


Theres many like him and he loves to play my console. I even created an account for him on my PS3 but he refused to play but everytime I get games he has to see them. Then he takes pride in console multiplats porting over to PC and showing me how superior they are. He then sees the exclusives on the PS3 and he says if they were on PC imagine how great they could be. Thats the point...imagine it because its not happening. Hes a good guy, he just thinks PC is the end all be all and I've never seen creative characters and games like what Sony or Nintendo provide on a PC. PC is a great place for graphics and buying cheaper games because they come digitally, but outside of that I have no use for it. All I do is marvel at the graphics because its the best it can do. It has no central oganization and first party exclusives and even he couldnt argue with that. Not once did I ever see him gloat about a PC game to me outside of Starcraft and Diablo. When those two games were coming out he would hype them so much and then there was nothing to  talk about for such a long period of time. Consoles are lacking, but what give back to you in return for lacking hardware are some of the best quality games made for the era.

Here is the philosophy....

Give me a console with finite power and make the best product you can around its shortcomings. Give me a PC so I might marvel at the best consoles already have to offer.
