The Wii was a success when it released, MS and Sony didn't have their motion control things out for awhile after the Wii released. Also, Sony and MS wouldn't be able to just come up with a Tablet controller in a few months time.

Here, think of it another way. If the Move and Kinect took time to be added onto the PS3/xb360, though it was a runnaway success, the time it takes the U to stagger and bounce back would theoretically correspond to an extra lag for Sony/MS to catch up, on top of the usual lag to catch up.
