but PS+ offers newer titles

Yes, but they are not giving them away for free and it is tied to your ps+-account. If you can't see the technical difference between these two solutions I can't help you.

The only difference I can think of is that the games go away when your subscription ends, which isn't very important since people would have:

1- already played the game

2- renew to play the game.

So what's the difference?

OT: interesting games this time IMO.

People pay especially for ps+ so that publishers get money off the money you give to Sony. MS gives games away for free (well, you could argue this, of course, as you have to pay for gold) but they are really giving it away for free. No additionals costs for gold-members, and they can keep playing the games without gold and without internet.

Then the question arises: How long can you operate the PS3 offline with ps+-membership? I mean you pay for ps+ - do you have to be online to play your games? Does it need to check every x days/hours so that you can play the ps+games?

i think you can play them offline as well. It has a timer for when it expires I believe.
