Because they don't want you to trade/sell your games. Also it makes it much more complicated then is needed. Take a look at Steam, it doesn't have any of those options either. It helps them because digital makes much more profit because they dont need to pay manufacturing, packaging, transportation, retailer costs.
When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.
