I kind of expected the headset to increase and the price increase is reasonable to me.
Surprised by the controller price increase, but if it lasts than it's a good investment. My original Xbox 360 controllers lasted for the entire timeframe I owned it.
Not really bothered by the Play n Charge price, but I hope it gets awesome charge life.

Lucky for you I went through 5 controllers with my 360 so far I expect to go through another 2 before I get the Xbox One.

What generation?
My controllers were pre-release/release controllers. My nephew had later generation controllers and wore out his fast too.
If it is any consolation, both my Quick Charger and Wireless headset wore out. My wireless headset within a year, but outside of the 90 day warranty. The quick charger took a lot longer to go. I loved the quick charger though. The wireless headset, once I found out it didn't offer any better sound quality, wasn't of much interest to me.

I've always used Turtle Beach headsets I threw away my headset that came with my Xbox. I have the same quick charger from 2008 when I got my 360, although the battery dies in about an hour of gameplay now so I think I need a new one. Also to answer your question my first 360 controller that came with the xbox lasted 2 years before breaking. Since 2010 I've had to buy 3 more.
