Seeing as I'm Puerto Rican and Black....no. I have been aware of the stereotypes that seem to go along with being black. When I go into stores, I usually get some employee following me around the store like I have a tattoo on my forehead that says retail theft 4 lyfe! I was Christmas shopping with my ex (she is white) and we both had shopping carts piled to the brim with toys. It seemed like pretty much every employee in the store was following us around. When we finally get to check out there are 4 extra employees in the checkout area hoovering around us. My girl went crazy as she had never experienced anything like it (I was her first black bf). I'm surprised how ignorant we still are. Just look at some of the comments on here........"I walk on the other side of the street when I see them, but I'm not racist." Well to the people you try so hard to avoid, you are racist. When you start making assumptions based on skin color, and act out on those false assumptions, you are racist. Plain and simple. All Mexicans don't listen to mariachi, so whoever said they don't like Mexicans because of that, you sir are racist. Racism is alive and well, everyone just has an excuse for their racism and use that excuse to pretend racism is dead. We need to stop fooling ourselves.
