I don't think there is a way we can avoid some 'big data' you are referring too.  Even years ago every big copy machine included a hard drive that would record everything ever copied on it. This is when the hard drives were really expensive.

It's a calculated risk.  And I think you have solid reason, in may was I agree with you. I just don't think avoiding tech is going to solve the problem unless we live out in the wilderness away from all of it.

I think we need legal reform, but unfortunately the recent the reduce the NSA was not passed by congress.  I think we also need to guarantee a free and open internet.

Like I said, my Android phone is heavily customized, so most things are not supervised. I can't change it of course for phone calls and SMS, but since Snowden, I'm encrypting instant messenges and e-mails. Yeah, I have a google account. Created it some years ago in a time, when I never believed that there was something like Prism. I imagined some of the internet would be observed, but not all of it. I just thought everythin is fine. But I was very wrong. 

Laws could help, but that will take years and in that time, data keeps getting collected. At the moment, I don't know if somebody is listening when I'm calling someone. And that feeling is just really uncomfortable for me. I also don't like to just sit there and do nothing while knowing that something is seriously wrong. And on top of that, we don't even have the full picture yet. Snowden still has things to uncover, but won't do so until he's somewhere safe. With all the stuff already discovered, what the hell is left? I can only imagine. 

I would have imagined something like that from China or North Korea. But USA? Aren't they supposed to be the "good guys"? Freedom and all? If people feel neither safe nor free in their home country, something is really wrong. Like said before, I don't think Xbox One is gonna be a super surveillance tool. But kinect still gives me the chills, just thinking of the possibilities. They won't use it that way probably. But I just don't feel good with that thing. You know? Without Snowden, I probably wouldn't give two shits. Maybe Snowden is a Sony PR man after all. :P

Just to be clear, I don't want to trash talk the Xbox One and wish every fan of it much fun with the device. It's entirely my personal opinion. I don't want someoe to stop buying it, I just think there are reasons to be careful.
