As for the price cuts, there were two. Before you became a member, there was a big thread discussing them. For a period of time after the 20gb was officially dropped but the 80gb hadn't received a price drop, the lowest official entry price for the PS3 was $599. It then dropped to $499. And then it dropped again to $399.

now that's better. claiming that the 360 had a shortage is misleading, but if you specify it like so, then i'd have no trouble accepting it.

as for the price cut, when sony dropped prices, they also changed skus. so comparing a 60gig which droped from $599 to $499 to the 40gig which was introduced at $399 is incorrect as these are different models. though they may both be entry models, they are still not the same sku.

Now thats better.  Now you have clarified that you are talking solely about the gimped SKU that is missing some of what Sony defined as 'core' features at the console's launch, I have no trouble accepting what your saying.
