I'm assuming that PSP+Vita of God Eater 2 will do 600-800k combined.
And MH4 isn't doing 4+ million. At least not without extensive bundling and expansions/re-releases.

I was talking about the Vita version alone.
Anyway, you have said several times already that MH4 won't reach those numbers, care to exaplain why?
Animal Crossing: New Leaf is nearing those numbers with digital (Japan Alone) and it's not fair to use MH3G as a reference since it's the 4th re-release. PSP MH achieved it, why can't 3DS MH do the same?

I don't think it will reach the heights of the PSP version, because the series has died down in popularity a bit and the 3DS isn't as popular as the PSP (ironic for a handheld that supposedly was built to rape the PSP). Things could change down the line, but I still don't think it'll do 4+ million without extensive bundling and many expansions/re-releases.

To be Fair, MH3G is a port and 3DS install base was very low compare to psp install base for the freedom 3 and unite. MH4 will easily outsell a port (of which is almost 2mil the third highest in the franchise in japan) and do an absolute minumum of 3.5mil imo. I mean its like comparing pokemon black/white to pokemon black2/white2, MH4 is a new mainstream game, i think your underestimating it, but hey everybody has their opinion! We'll see soon results........... so prepare yourself

The port/original game doesn't mean a whole lot. The first original game for PSP was the last one. The first two MHPs were ports of the PS2 version with additional content. Unite was just the second game with a lot of content (hence the title, Monster Hunter Portable 2 G) and it nearly doubled MHP2.
Also, while Capcom is likely lowballing, they're expecting at most 3.5 million for MH4.

isn't pre orders stacking up high now? I mean FW has to sell over 1mil for sure and that beats all oter MH games (except 1). Im just saying, i think 3.5mil is minumum, 3G sold roughly 2mil. with an install base of 3mil (released), but its watevr. Me, you, and any1 else will see how well MH4 will sell. Dont forget original shipments were to be 600k, but capcom quickly reacted to major pre orders!

MH isn't really about front loaded FWs though. Every entry in the portbale series has had fantastic legs regardless of platform. If the hardcore MH love it, then I could see it having a shot at 4 million on its own, but I'm still hesitant to predict it going that high.
