Unfortunately it's not as easy as giving simple instructions to kids, and it's not as simple as saying raise your kids right or don't have them.

There are kids without guidance, and simple instructions don't work.  That's why we as a society have to step in and help to protect the larger group.

You feel that violence and porn are fine for kids and I respect your opinion.  I believe in protecting kids and guiding them till maturity, so my view is different.  So I like the default internet to be porn-free until requested otherwise by an adult.

Hide all the harmful things, eh? How about giving parents guidance first so they could give some to children? Or maybe give children guidance at school? Kids will get guidance if there's willpower to do it. Hiding everything harmful isn't "stepping in", it's avoiding the problem. It's also exaggerating the problem because like I said, kids aren't made of glass. And then there's the thing: How do you think we're going to have mature adults when kids learn the world is a perfect place, nothing is wrong, and they never learn to cope with harder things. If anything, we'll end up with helpless adults if we overprotect our children.

I'm not saying violence and porn are fine for kids. I'm saying they'll learn to cope with it. They just need guidance and a proper amount of protection, that's all. If they don't get those two, they probably have bigger issues than seeing porn.
