Nintendo have been known to release controllers which are excellent for about 5 games and feel a bit rubbish with most other games (N64 and Wii mote).
They have also created three of the best controllers of all time NES, SNES and Cube, so in balance they make some of the best and some of the worst controllers. When they're good they're very, very good; but when they're bad they're horrid.
Too much planning, and you'll never get anything done.
