Not exactly true. Yes, other companies make them, but they all pay licenses to Sony to make them because all sorts of memory stick lines are owned by Sony. By comparison, SD cards have no official license. It's just a categorization of memory cards with some set standards set by the companies which make them.
A lesson I learned too late: microSD adapter sleeves exist for both memory pro duo and Vita cards.

There are MicroSD adapters for Vita memoryCards?! O.O?! WHERE?!
|
Pretty certain they don't exist because an adapter would be physically impossible and they wouldn't have the proper encryption keys to work even if they could fit.
|
That's Why I ask him.. because I own a PSVita and I'm sure that the MemCards are as small as a MicroSD... I'm sure I would know sometime ago about it, if it exist...
|
Could have sworn I found one. Apparently not.
Still, the Vita card being the same size as a microSD isn't a good enough reason for a passive adapter to not exist: you can trim cards down to fit. I know multiple people who have trimmed their SIM cards down into MicroSIM slots.

That could be a option..but stil inexistent... So the only options left are: Massive price cut on Vita's memory cards or New model with SD or MicroSD slots...
The first option with the time could end being the more viable...the MemoryStick PRODUO ofr PSP and cameras had 512mb at the begining and ended with 4gb minimum... so 32gb could be the minimum on two or tree years from now on at the same price as the 4gb MemCard...
