Oh no, it was completely intentional.

Hideki Kamiya, the director of W101, was also the director of Viewtiful Joe and many people from Clover Studios are now at Platinum Games.

It has the same awesome style that Joe had, which I love. In fact, I thought that the voice of the Red hero was Dee Bradly Baker, the same actor that voiced Joe, but apparently it isn't.

Yep I kinda think of this as a spiritual successor to Viewtiful Joe
