I think this is fantastic.. I also think from here out the Wii U will sell better numbers.. averaging 30-40 someodd K a week.. that is not great.. but it is better.. and in the coming years it will get better as more games come out.. Also I don't understand why some say the Wii U will do Gamecube numbers.. Wii U has titles such as Wii Fit U.. and Wii Party U.. which will appeal more to the base that bought the Wii... I am not saying.. that Nintendo will dominate by any stretch of the means.. but I do believe the Wii U will do better than Gamecube.. because as many people who are waiting for that next awesome Zelda on Wii U.. there are just as many that would be happy once Wii Fit.. Wii Party.. and especially if they announced a Wii Sports U... who knows.. at that point Wii U may surprise everyone.. and become the Wii of this generation.. or at least finish a heck of a lot stronger than what most people seem to think....

And it's not just the Wii series either. GC also didn't have games like NSMB, DKC, the Yarn games, etc, nor were there any remakes, and the system wasn't bundled with a game. Staple franchises like Mario Kart and Smash Bros. have also grown since GC, so they should have more of an impact.
