A related question that I always wondered about is - where do all the football fans go? I mean, twenty years ago there were a LOT of Blackburn Rovers fans around here (here being a city very far away from Blackburn). You would see people wearing blue and white everywhere in the malls, the buses, the trains. When you talked to them, they would eagerly boast how "we" are going to show United how it's done, how "we" are the best club team in England and probably the world, and that "our player" Alan Shearer is the best striker in the history of the game.
Where are they these days? And about 15 years ago, suddenly, a hell of a lot of Chelsea fans, something that was nowhere to be found twenty years ago, decided to move into my home town. I also recently noted that Man City fans have been appearing.
Maybe someone should tag all these football supporters to study their migration patterns more closely? Really an interesting phenomena.
