The thing is it's completely different for Wii U. The two games skyrocketed 3DS were MK, and 3D Mario Land, along with a price cut. Nintendo has stated they have no plans to cut price. I do still think 3D Mario will sell, they obviously need to advertise for it, but they most likely will for 3D Mario.
What's different is the competition. 3DS had virtually no competition, Wii U is going to up against PS4 and One. When you compare PS4 to Wii U and factor in value, PS4 wins hands down.
I'd love to see a $50 price cut and added storage, but I don't see Nintendo doing this. Maybe even include an external HDD.
