A lot of things that are true are sad ways to view things. When people are honest about things others sometimes look down on them but in reality, those being looked down upon are just the ones telling it like it is.
And about the OP, along with most every answer here, having something you like/follow win feels like a win to you is because it's a justification for how you view things. It shows you that you had a good idea and were correct in your decision (in your eyes at least). While some people like to be the only ones who like something, most people enjoy company. And when what you follow gets a victory others might come to see it your way as well and you can enjoy it together. It also helps to prevent people from bashing your idea as well, which I'm sure if they're being honest, nobody enjoys.
