When did Sony ever promise that the PS3 would do that? Guerrilla called it a target render. 

But they still fooled me and a lot of people with that trailer that looked pretty much like a real gameplay footage of the game.

And I do remember some Sony PR guys saying that it was in-engine and rendered in real time.

The actual game wasn't far off that target render......

Im pretty sure in some sites agreed that it surpassed the render in some aspects and missed the mark (but not by much) in others.
