The games you have mentioned needs internet always to play them mostly, so it cannot be experienced offline so we can't experience if there is no internet in any future and ever because they need servers to operate which will be shutdown. What about the games recent games like Tomb raider and bioshock infinite, why they did not do like Consoles sales? Give these kind of games in PC, Where are the platform games like Sly, Mario, Ratchet and Clank, Little big planet? Where are the racing games like GTourismo, Forza? Where are the JRPG games like Nino kuni and many other Japan RPG games? What about story telling games like Uncharted, heavy rain etc.,? What about FPS games like Halo, Killzone, resistance? Give me AAA games that match console quality i mentioned above which can be played offline and did sell well in PC. I don't play games just play for fun and forget. I want to explore the worlds and experience which we can only dream and never possible in real life but can feel/experience that in Games. |
Which of his list of games do you think need an online connection? I counted 4. Half-Life 2, The Sims and Minecraft are all offline game, but that doesn't actually discount from his point about sales. What happens when your disc breaks and they no longer sell PS3 games? You're screwed either way... except on PC many games have the ability to allow the users to host their own servers, so if the developers decide to stop support, someone else is willing to pick up the slack.
His list is actually only a small one too and thats the sales we know about as most PC sales are impossible to track. Tracking firms only have the vaguest of ideas about digital downloads on PC considering Steam (that are estimated to have 70% marketshare) don't release figures (then again, few digital download outlets release figures). EA have even commented on how NPD are no longer that reliable for market data as they're our of touch with the download sector.
As for Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider, where are you getting your numbers from? As I said before, due to PC being heavily skewed towards digital downloads, sales figures for PC are unreliable, this site included.
And for every genre and list of games you've mentioned I could easily ask where's the Planescape game? (widely considered as one of the best storylines in video games and was novellised and considered one of New York Times' 100 books of the 20th century) Where's iRacing (often considered to be better than either GT or Forza by sim enthusiasts)? Where's Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale or Neverwinter Nights? (which have great stories and characters). Where's Starcraft? or Dreamfall? or Civlization? Flight Sim? Age of Empires? Total War? I could go on and on.
And did you honestly mention FPS? On PC?! The platform that invented and innovated the genre in numerous ways? Maybe you've heard of these: Half-Life, Left 4 Dead, Battlefield, Call of Duty, Counterstrike (proof that mods do matter), Doom, Wolfenstein, Deus Ex, Unreal, Unreal Tournament, Quake, Crysis... I mean seriously.
There is literally every experience you could possibly want on PC, you just don't know about them.
