I think there is some general interest level in Wii U with not just Pikmin coming, but more actual games after that. There has been little reason for people to buy it for months, since NSMBU and NL will still be there when the system is purchased later. Starting with P3 there will be some new games to enjoy each month.
Also, the Pikmin 3 ads in Japan are great, and the kind of ads that should be used everywhere for Wii U. Learn from them NoA!
On a slightly related note, this game looks really good. One of the most beautiful games I've seen anywhere. I love when Nintendo does realistic graphics. I had no intention of buying it, but it looks like it could be a quality next-gen experience with great visuals and the second screen used in a neat way.
