I wonder what the ramifications would be. I think it was Yoshida who said that the company couldn't afford another failure like FFXIV, and I wonder whether he meant another, completely new game failing like that, or that ARR simply has to succeed after everything they've invested in it. Their financial report makes it sound like they are all in on this revamp, so it oculd be the latter.
Between this and DQX, I do hope they get the point that the MMO market isn't what it was in the WoW era. Their ability to draw the correct lessons from things is highly suspect, though.
