Are people just being too hard on the wii u?(spec and sales wise)

Even with huge sales I don't think they would get much support. Look at 3DS as an example, how many top tier 3rd party western devs have jumped onto that system? Even the VITA is getting better support from the western world and we know how much support vita is getting atm.

western devs dont mess with portables anyway, what support is Vita getting?

well not much hence why I said "and we know how much support it is getting".  But as some examples, mature titles by Activision and EA. No 3DS annoucements since launch window for FIFA MADDEN or a NFS.
