What gaming stories moved you WITHOUT a cinematic presentation like Heavy Rain or TLOU?

Metroid Prime. Not so much for the story, but for the atmosfere,
I'm playing RE (Gamecube) and i find more interesting the story told by the text in exploration than by cutscenes.
I dont think cinematics as a very elegant way to told a story.
