Pretty amusing reading the two "shipped" comments in here. I thought by now it was common knowledge that that's how it was counted. I mean, it's exactly what Square Enix did with Tomb Raider but I don't remember there being an uproar of "Omg it's shipped + downloads!!!" about that.
Which brings me to the point I came here to make. The figure for TLOU is exactly the same as Tomb Raider. Yet, one is being touted as this massive success while the other is a game that succeeded but sold well below expectations. Just goes to show how out of touch Square Enix were with that game.
And of course, massive congrats to the game, Naughty Dog & Sony. Another strong IP to add to the roster. And proof that a new IP this late into the gen can still be a big success.

Well it is worthwhile clarifying regualrly. For instance, it is clear you need help in differentiating given your statement here.
Shipped the same amount? yes. Sold throught the same amount? who knows?
If I start a thread in the future saying halo5 sold 8m week one, I am pretty sure there would be half a dozen "shipped" statements within 2 minutes.
Shipment numbers are interesting as it gives an indication of market expectation, but thats all. It may take a week, a month or a year to sell and intial shipment.
...and who said "OMG its shipped + downloads!!!"? Nobody. Mods should be keeping the peace not stoking the fire.

Were you really expecting such high numbers? I mean even the most enthusiastic fan was prediction around 3 to 3.5 million sell through to consumers by year end and given the shipped figures and mutliple anecdotal evidences of supply issues, it looks like it will blow past that number...
