One model of the Wii U is $100 cheaper but the one that gives more space has a $50 differential to the PS4. Onlookers will look at both and bypass Nintendo this holiday season. They've been doing it with the PS3 and 360 while those are essentially the same price. This means the average consumer doesn't see the Wii U as next gen.

give up already. wii u is the cheapest 8th gen option and the average consumer will favour it. and you can bet the ps360 will easily outsell the ps4/xone for a while.

You mean like the Gamecube?

you mean the console that got in the market 1 year later than ps2 and wasn't a dvd player? the console that has no relevancy in this conversation a bout wii u?

You seemed to be arguing that the Wii U will be favored by the general public because it's the cheapest. All I did was point out that that wasn't the case for the GC.

and all I did was point out that the market situation was much different for gamecube. ps2 was the cheapest dvd player and had a head start. now ps4 isn't introducing any media and costs 399. consider the current economy and you will see many people looking at those $299, $399 and $499 price tags and favouring the cheapest.

I'm sure many people will. But saying that It will necessarily be the favorite simply by being the cheapest is a notion that's demonstrably false, regardless of the economic situation. It's very much about value, as you just admitted. With the PS2, there was much higher perceived value, despite its higher price tag, and that's why it so handily won the generation. The same is true of the Wii, at least initially. If value wasn't the important factor and it was simply a matter of price, then we'd be talking about how many dozen times more units the Ouya will sell in comparison to the big 3.
