Well it really doesn't matter to me if I can't run a game at native 1080p. It doesn't even bother me too much when I play games at lowest settings (such as Skyrim).
Also what do you mean ditch the hard drive? I don't know much about computers so I don't understand what you mean when you say 5400 rpm or 7200 rpm etc.
