That is my thought process as well, but from all indications, Nintendo has taken the 18-24 month development window that they preached for the DS and Wii non Zelda games and tried it with the Wii U only to fall on their faces. Scary thing is of course, unlike the 3DS, Nintendo doesn't expect to be the market leader in the home console market, which is basically dead in their home country as well, meaning that they are not likely to put forth the same effort that they did to get the 3DS back on track. Not that they could anyway due to the difference in HD development.
