Ito has only led direction on one game, FF9, and it was the most unmemorable and boring game in the entire series. Why would you want him directing another one?
Kitase was the head director on FF6, FF7, FF8, and Chrono Trigger. He is the guy you want directing Final Fantasy games. Ito is good for designing mini games and battle systems, not directing entire games.
