By fad you must mean move becuase the wii mote is a viable option and kinect is bundled with the X1.

"wii mote" look at current Wii and Wii U sales

"kinect is bundled with the X1" which is a reason to not buy according to many. 

So as you can see the fad has ended, general public is not interested in games because of Wii mote anymore and hardcore gamers dont care or wont buy a console because it has motion control.
