But FFX, MGS2, RE3 are still recognizable as part of their respective main series. I'm talking about gameplay, music, art direction, controls.
If a person who doesn't know RE4 sees it for the first time "resident evil" it's not the first thing that will show up in its mind.
MK8 still involves karts (with some tweaks -> anti-gravity), power-ups and circuits. Not helicopters.
