I dont see it... a price cut that soon i mean. If they drop the price too soon, it could have a negative impact.
Also remember Sony is currently below the Xbox in price, so unless they decide to bring out another SKU with a lower price before launch, Sony can always wait and see what MS do first. So perhaps in 6 months time MS release a non Kinect Xbox (personally i dont see them doing that)... Sony could knock $50 off to combat that.
This is what i said previously, its a reverse of what's happened this gen really. When whatever Sony did, because they were always more expensive, MS just waited, watched what they did and then dropped the price. The other "benefit" for Sony is that they are really good at reducing the cost of the console footprint/cost. So they could release a slimmer PS4 at a later stage and do what they have done with the PS3 and that is keep the price up.
I dont see MS going in for a Price war, i really dont. I think both Sony/MS will try to get as much money out of the gen.
But this does take into account both consoles selling relatively well, if one is doing much worse than who knows what could happen.
