What's wrong with lust as long as you control it and not the other way around? And I'm definitely not saying that controlling lust is forbidding it.

The problem with lust is that it leds to evil actions and it can clearly overwhelm us. I don't think you can control it... better said, I'm sure you can't because I have tried to control it for years... I honestly think its a miracle where I am now in comparison to where I was...

Proverbs 6:27-29
27 Can a man scoop fire into his lap
without his clothes being burned?
28 Can a man walk on hot coals
without his feet being scorched?
29 So is he who sleeps with another man’s wife;
no one who touches her will go unpunished.

Lust doesn't have to lead to evil actions. Strong-willed individuals will always be able to control themselves, only weak-willed people will need an external factor to control their themselves. Personally I haven't had any trouble controlling myself and my lust, whenever that might be. Also, I trust common sense to provide me with good morals so I don't need to resort to the Bible or anything else in that regard. So far it's worked out and I don't see it changing.

As far as I'm concerned, sex is just one way of having fun, it just happens that it can also have a deeper level than just pure fun if done with the right partner. If people want to have fun with each other, be it two, three, or any number of people, I'm fine with it as long as everyone wants it and no one gets hurt physically or mentally. Of course it's important to put more important matters in the first place, such as respecting others and their relationships, and I believe you don't need religion to do that. I don't use religion for that and I feel I can put matters in the right order, and I'm fairly sure I'm not the only one. It's not about why you believe something is right or wrong, ie. whether it's because religion or something else. What is important, though, is that you do make the distinction between right and wrong.
