If more people buy a PS4 (which is likely at this moment in time) and they get a significant portion to purchase PS+ then on a yearly basis they will make more money from the PS4.
Simple really. That's why PS+ is so important to Sony they can get a lot of people on this service, just like MS have with Live on the 360. It's where the money is to be made.
