Honestly, I'm tired of the "SONY FANS" boogey man... to many people especially on here use that as a scape goat for the fact that MS has just lost its popularity it once had. Get over it! While there are still people who are campers under a single flag banner (possibly myself included) I think a majority of gamers really just care about various issues that are important to them personally and has nothing to do with brand alliance. If sony was going to come out with DRM like MS did (tables flipped from what happened) I'd be getting an X1.

Honestly from what I've seen over the web in the past 5+ years is that a vocal majority of MS fans feel entitled and whine a lot when something happens they don't like. When a similar situation happens with the vocal minority of the vocal sony fan base they are told to shut up and grow up by the majority vocal base.

Honestly I was not happy about DRM and did not want it to succeed, but honestly their plans didn't affect me and slightly interested me more than they do now. My major concern was more so about how it would affect the mass market and affect sales. I honestly didn't think either Sony or MS was going to enact DRM as that would hand the gen over to the competitor on a silver platter.

I still see sites/forums/discussions that favor the x1, but honestly those discussions from MS fanboys are on a whole other level than the worst posts I've seen on this site. The same goes for Sony fans on those same sites, but the difference is I see other Sony fans correcting BS propaganda than MS fans on those sites. Anytime I see a Sony fan say something that is pure PR BS the first person to correct them is normally a Sony fan. Where as the MS fans on other sites aren't normally corrected by MS fans but encouraged.

My main 2 reason for PS3 over X3 were controller (personal preference, though I like things on both ends) and PSN vs XBLG...
1. I like the design of the PS3 controller its more ergonomic for shooters for the sticks and holding, but the triggers weren't as good as x3. Alternatively, I don't like the stick placement on x3 controllers, but did like how the bottom triggers had thought put into them... while I still think MS got it wrong with the bottom triggers for ergonomics they did better than sony in that regard. (again personal preference... I play inverted with my aim and shoot as the bottom buttons on ps3 if I can... first thing I check for in shooter games)

2. I honestly never read/heard/saw any actual purpose of the XBLG for online gaming other than a paywall. I have heard since then (2008ish) some really cool features intertwined with the x3/xblg that are great features, but that was word of mouth rather than published information on the XBLG website. I think some of those things were definitely at cost to MS, but MS didn't tout/display those things on their main XBL site so they went mostly understated and misunderstood for x3. In light of those things I do think XBLG is worth the cost somewhat, but PSN lacking those key things (like ranking other players, achievement rewards...) didn't really seem any different in anything other than cost. I played original XBOX on XBconnect for halo and other games with no problem.

Well I've ranted long enough... suffice it to say MS does have some great ideas, but they greatly lack in communication, customer appreciation, and in general brand appeal(IMO) over Sony(/IMO)
