Sorry, Rol, but your OP fails due to the fact that you limit Nintendo's three big IPs to Mario, Metroid and Zelda to "stick it to the hardcore" when there are three other equally big and acclaimed IPs that would fill them with envy much better:
A new Urban Champion - complete with HD blood, bruises and bones protruding through flesh. No need to update the gameplay much from the original since the graphics and violence alone would sell the game.
A new Hogan's Alley - More blood and violence as selling points, with children and animals thrown in as targets for the sake of controversy.
A new Radar Scope - No need for blood and guts here because its hardcore selling point would be its deep story elements and plot twists: The Aliens being fired upon are revealed to be the good guys and the player's character is faced with a dilemma; keep blasting for a high score or do the righteous thing and help them attack the oppressive humans trying to stop them from their mission of peace.
