people clearly overestimate how money would make them so much happier in life. it's true that money makes you happier if you have very few money and big problems to pay your bills but as long as you have a "normal" income, much more money won't make you a lot happier. your standard of life increases with the money you have and with that, something which you really want to have when you can't buy it wouldn't interest you so much if you could buy it then. you would want new stuff you couldn't buy then.
