I'm super disapointed, and heres why...

First, the cat is featured into the game name. Why do I hate when they do this? I hate it because if they are making such a big deal of a new suit it's because they have absolutly nothing else special to convince ppl that this game is fresh. ''omg, we have cat Mario now'', ''What's new with this game you ask? Well cat Mario offcaurse!'', these are what devs said at E3 all week long. How pathetic is that? Did the Galaxy word in Super Mario Galaxy was written in clouds because of the cloud Mario suit? Did Nintendo make a big deal of the cloud suit when promoting Galaxy? No because Galaxy had soo much going other than a new suit to rely on to feel fresh.

Second, the obvious lack of anything special... Sunshine had Mario on a tropical island fighting paint monsters, Galaxy had Mario in space and offcause Mario64 had the luxary of being the first 3D Mario game ever. This game seems to have absolutly nothing special. It seems to be lacking the charm and freshness of previous games. It looks like just a simple compilation of 3D levels. The only thing special about this game is the lack of anything special.

The multiplayer... Lets face it, multiplayer in NSMB games is a chaotic unplayable pain that you only get to try out once in a while when you have family at home. The fact that they added this in 3DWorld shows that this game is made to attract the lowest common denominator of ''gamers''. Why should I care when I can just play single player you ask? Because we now know that each and every level of this game will be designed with multiplayer in mind, therefor heavily limiting the potantial of the game. Galaxy had so much variety and alot of these levels would simply not be possible with multiplayer. Now every idea the dev will come up for a level, they will have to ask themselves ''is this possible with multiplayer, if not, how can we ruin this idea to force multiplayer in?''

Flag poles... Not a huge complain, but this is the first 3D mario game on console that ask you to jump on flag poles instead of collecting stars. Why is this a complain? Because first it shows a lack of originality in favor of the plain mechanic that NSMB playing familys are used to. It shows a lack of creativity and production value. In previous games, you had to collect stars to advance, get 60 to unlock a boss level for example. Stars were sometimes holded by a boss, and some were hidden. They were often a possibility of 3 or more stars in a level that you had to collect. Now you don't collect stars, you hit the end of the level and that is it. You then advance to the next level(my guess). It also shows a lack in the story. My guess is that the story is shamefully simple where you only have to advance level after level. Atleast in Galaxy games you had to collect stars in order to get fuel for your ship, still simple but refreshing. The star mechanic gave you some freedom. You were rarely forced to complete a level in order to advance, instead you had to collect a number of stars and it was totaly up to you where you wanted to obtain these stars. You could totaly ignore many levels if you wanted to and instead collect 6stars in the same levels. With flags you will most likely be FORCED to complete a level in order to play the level that is right after it.

The music. It did'nt seem orchastrated, sounded like that crappy repetitive bubbly music from NSMBU instead of featuring great orchastrated symphonys like in Galaxy. Shows a total lack of production value that usualy makes 3D mario games masterpieces.

I have nothing to proove this, but each and every of my complaints (especyaly my flag pole complaint) pointing at a lack of production value in favor of being generic makes me seriously think that this game won't have a over world. This is a huge deal for me, I loved walking around that tropical island in Sunshine and mushroom kingdom in 64. Galaxy may have had the weakest hub imo but still loved seeing my ship come to life by becoming bigger and having more and more characters featured on my ship. I have yet to play 3Dland so idk if that game had a overworld, but I don't think it does, does it? Anyway, if my fears are true and all it has is a level select screen in the form of a world like Super Mario World or NSMBU, that will be extremely disapointing and a perfect example of my feeling of lack of originality.

So how can I best describe my initial thought for this game? Simple, safe, plain, generic, ordinary, lacking production value. Each and every of my complaints shows that this game is aimed at the lowest common denominator of gamers. With multiplayer, lack of speciality, generic flag poles, everything is aimed at familys that made the 25million sales of NSMB games possible instead of being aimed at real fans and gamers that can appreciate a masterpiece. This game is not at all aimed at ppl who played 64 or Sunshine, Nintendo don't seem to care about these long timed fans that they probably think they already have in their pockets, this game is probably not even aimed at ppl who played Galaxy. This game is aimed at the many casual players that never bought a 3D Mario games because they were to hard or complicated. Galaxy sold 10millions copys vs around 25mil for NSMBW. This game's goal is to attract the 15mil who bought NSMBW but not Galaxy.

THE ONLY PRO I can give this game right now is that the fact that peach is playable means that the story will FINALLY rely on something else than Bowser kidnaping peach. But this is a really small pro because all these hints pointing to a lack of production value shows that this game will probably have a story just as crappy if not worst and I'd much rather have peach being kidnapped than having her be playable (especyaly if multiplayer is nescessary for her inclusion).
