Actually, now that I think about it, the game is better suited for console due to it's multiplayer. Of course, handhelds can do multiplayer also, and both consoles and handhelds have advantages over the other in terms of local multiplayer. However, console's advantage shines here, being that multiple people can play on one system. For the 3DS, you'd need each person to have their own system. On the flipside, each person has their own screen, but that advantage is mute in platformers where everyone has the same camera. Handheld's other advantage, being able to support more players than consoles, is also irrelevant, since having 8 or so players running around would be crazy. Even some handheld only games only allow 4 players, such as Luigi's Mansion 2, a game which shares a similar camera angle to Super Mario Cats.
