One of my most played game recently is Crackdown 2. Very interactive and non-scripted. It's a video game splendor in my opinion. You control the events and the environment react to you. You're acting like movie games are the only option available. Some people believe narrative endears people to characters. Sony has had games with no major story where the battles tell the story for you such as Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, so to pigeonhold them for expanding into other genres and pushing the narrative potential of games isnt hurting but helping the industry.
