"Uh, how? How does the Vita replace the PS3?"

Actually the ps3 is quite a wonderful device. It is a ps3 ( of course ), a ps2 ( ps2 best titles are almost all here, it only lacks DQVIII actually ), a psx, a lot of other console "great" titles ( Jet set radio for example ) and an indie support. As a gamer who had the best experiences on Sony, I can't be more satisfied with the ps3 system.
The Vita has the potential to replace all those advantages. In fact it already does for the most of them. It can play ps2 game fine ( ps2 collection ), psx title without any problem and can do everything a psp could.
Now for ps3 games : The vita is only barely two year old, and back in the first year they were already ports who looked amazing and quite identical to their ps3 counterpart. To give you a few example look at UMVC3, most wanted and Fifa ( best ports visual wise in my opinion ). Those game are true HD title.

There is some fluidity optimisation problem, but for a first year port, it looks amazing and very close to its ps3 counterpart no doubt. I do not like Most wanted, but on ps3 it is quite a looker. Same goes for Fifa and UMVC3.
I have fifa on both vita and Ps3, and they're not far from each other at all. Fifa 13 on vita is identical to fifa 11. Wich is quite amazing since EA was clearly lazy to port all the changes from fifa 12 and 13 on vita since everything else look exaclty the same.
It screams loud that the vita could play at least some of the most important ps3 blockbuster in a near future ( Fifa, Tekken, Gran Turismo, NB2K ). I only have doubt about GTAIV and V.
I could also named PSAB, Thieves of time, LBP, or indie production who looks identical to their ps3 counter part but I do not think they are that hard to port on a vita since they're "lesser" HD titles. I have no doubt the vita can play stunning visual game like Journey too.
I am truly conveiced that the vita will be a perfect replacement of a ps3. And since the ps4 won't allow backward compatibility, nor psn titles on ps4, they better think of the vita that way.
