Vita is clearly meant to replace your ps3 ( if you have one ) on the future when you'll be tempted by the ps4.
If you're like me and find use of the psp back in the time of the ps2, take a vita right now. You'll be highly satisified. If not, wait for the ps4, keep your ps3 right now and buy a vita as a replacement of your actual gen system when you'll get the ps4.
The vita will probably a killer handheld next year. Ps2 collections and blockbuster coming + a lot of indies game.
