Maybe you could talk them into positive reinforcement. Tell them you'd like to get <insert game here> and then ask them if there's anything you could do to earn it. For example if your grades are 85 tell them you'll work harder and get 90s. That by being positively rewarded when you're young it'll make you more apt to work harder and be even more successful when you get older.
