I love MLG. I love game speedrunning. I loved Starcraft Brood War, the hardest and most competitive game ever made.

But I'd really rather a game's skill came from intelligence and strategy rather than mechanical aptitude. Normal sports already do the latter quite well. I've switched from Starcraft to LoL: lower mechanical skillcap, and yet more fun, exciting and still skill based games.

Fighting games make moves deliberately hard to do to slow players down from being perfect. I don't think that's right.


You switched Starcraft for LoL, there is your problem.

Please expand on this. Where is LoL flawed?

You can never balance a game around ppl who dont understand the game, or dont have the speed to execute sick moves/micro.

Balancing a game means deciding on an intended playstyle. Something may be balanced but totally unfun to do and hence needs removing. Wavedashing is this kind of thing.

They are all artifacts of the obtuse controls of BW. Unlimited control group selection and decent pathfinding would obsolete them. Essentially they just arbitrarily make the game out of reach of the average person while not being fun or adding strategic depth.

The 12-in-a-control-group limit was added to make it deliberately hard rather than any tech limitation. Do you really support that?




- I never said LoL is flawed, but ur switching between the greatest rts ever made for a shallow, free to play MOBA.

- Alot of diehard melee fans disagree with you.

- SC2 has unlimited unit selection, look were that brought us, 1 group deathblob amoving into another deathblob.

12 group unit selection, muta stacking, reaver drop micro is what BW made great, all across the map action with sick multitasking.

99% of the sc2 pros agree that BW > sc2

Ur basicly saying remove or lower the skillceiling so that the average Joe Blows feelings dont get hurt because he cant push the right buttons?

If u want a game about skill without having to do tricky combo and quick reaction speed , go play chess.
