Yep it was there since the beginning. I think it more popular that you may think. If I remember correctly, it got in the top 100 of a huge poll on gamefaq. I was really young when nes was release (not born actually), but still played it a little bit at the beginning of the 90s (games like mario and Blades of steel). Today I realise how many freaking good games the nes had. Plus my impression is that the games are really cheap to find. I'm beating Zelda nes for the first time instead of playing skyward sword haha!
