Pretty pointless (the screen is chunky to use effectively), but it can allow you to access your phones functions without needing to go get it from where it is.

How is it in direct sunlight? some screens are really bad in direct sunlight..

It's an ok screen, but the screen size is pretty small and not very good for touch. I would say wait and see what this new one is going to be like... wouldnt recommend buying the old one unless it was cheapish.
